Friday 5/6 Insider Buying Report: OZRK, NWL Friday, May 6, 10:53 AM ET
As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
At Bank of the Ozarks (OZRK), a filing with the SEC revealed that on Wednesday, Director Ross M. Whipple purchased 120,000 shares of OZRK, for a cost of $37.78 each, for a total investment of $4.53M. Investors can buy OZRK at a price even lower than Whipple did, with shares changing hands as low as $36.85 in trading on Friday -- that's 2.5% below Whipple's purchase price. Bank of the Ozarks is trading up about 0.5% on the day Friday.
And on Monday, Director Raymond G. Viault bought $252,335 worth of Newell Brands (NWL), buying 5,450 shares at a cost of $46.30 each. Before this latest buy, Viault made one other buy in the past year, purchasing $200,275 shares at a cost of $40.05 each. Newell Brands is trading off about 0.2% on the day Friday. So far Viault is in the green, up about 1.4% on their buy based on today's trading high of $46.93.
