As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Friday, Air Products & Chemicals (APD)'s CEO, Seifi Ghasemi, made a $2.91M buy of APD, purchasing 20,000 shares at a cost of $145.68 each. So far Ghasemi is in the green, up about 2.3% on their buy based on today's trading high of $149.08. Air Products & Chemicals is trading up about 1.6% on the day Monday. Before this latest buy, Ghasemi purchased APD at 4 other times during the past year, for a total cost of $15M at an average of $142.82 per share.
And on Wednesday, Director John Anthony Lederer purchased $849,960 worth of Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA), purchasing 10,000 shares at a cost of $85.00 a piece. Before this latest buy, Lederer made one other buy in the past year, purchasing $849,960 shares for a cost of $85.00 a piece. Walgreens Boots Alliance is trading up about 0.8% on the day Monday. Investors have the opportunity to bag WBA at a price even lower than Lederer did, with shares changing hands as low as $83.45 in trading on Monday -- that's 1.8% under Lederer's purchase price.
