SPY, RYU: Big ETF Outflows Friday, March 13, 10:50 AM ET
Looking at units outstanding versus one week prior within the universe of ETFs covered at ETF Channel, the biggest outflow was seen in the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), where 16,750,000 units were destroyed, or a 1.8% decrease week over week. Among the largest underlying components of SPY, in morning trading today Apple (AAPL) is trading flat, and Exxon Mobil (XOM) is lower by about 1.7%.
And on a percentage change basis, the ETF with the biggest outflow was the Guggenheim S&P 500 Equal Weight Utilities ETF (RYU), which lost 950,000 of its units, representing a 28.4% decline in outstanding units compared to the week prior. Among the largest underlying components of RYU, in morning trading today Frontier Communications (FTR) is down about 0.8%, and Level 3 Communications (LVLT) is lower by about 0.4%.
