SPY, ESR: Big ETF Outflows Wednesday, January 21, 12:35 PM ET
Looking at units outstanding versus one week prior within the universe of ETFs covered at ETF Channel, the biggest outflow was seen in the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), where 48,850,000 units were destroyed, or a 4.9% decrease week over week. Among the largest underlying components of SPY, in morning trading today Apple (AAPL) is up about 1.2%, and Exxon Mobil (XOM) is higher by about 0.4%.
And on a percentage change basis, the ETF with the biggest outflow was the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Eastern Europe ETF (ESR), which lost 2,000,000 of its units, representing a 20.4% decline in outstanding units compared to the week prior. Among the largest underlying components of ESR, in morning trading today Mobile Telesystems (MBT) is up about 3.8%.
