Weekly Market Wrap: October 24, 2014 Friday, October 24, 5:00 PM ET The forty-third trading week of 2014 comes to a close with the S&P 500, NASDAQ composite and Dow Jones all higher in early-afternoon trading on Friday.
Most actively traded stocks include DryShips (DRYS) down 21.5%, Ford Motor (F) down 4.5%, Microsoft (MSFT) higher by 1.7%, and Apple (AAPL) flat on the day.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite are all significantly higher this week.
Crude oil futures are lower this week, trading at $81.24 per barrel on Friday afternoon.
And Gold futures are also lower this week, trading at $1231.55 an ounce this afternoon.
In economic news, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased 0.1 percent in September on a seasonally adjusted basis, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 1.7 percent before seasonal adjustment.
Increases in shelter and food indexes outweighed declines in energy indexes to result in the seasonally adjusted all items increase. The food index rose 0.3 percent as five of the six major grocery store food group indexes increased. The energy index declined 0.7 percent as the indexes for gasoline, electricity, and fuel oil all fell.
The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.1 percent in September. Along with the shelter index, the index for medical care increased, and the indexes for alcoholic beverages and for personal care advanced slightly. Several indexes were unchanged, and the indexes for airline fares and for used cars and trucks declined in September.
In the week ending October 18, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 283,000, an increase of 17,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 2,000 from 264,000 to 266,000. The 4-week moving average was 281,000, a decrease of 3,000 from the previous week's revised average. This is the lowest level for this average since May 6, 2000 when it was 279,250. The previous week's average was revised up by 500 from 283,500 to 284,000.
In corporate dividend news, Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) declared a quarterly dividend of $0.225 a share on the Company's common stock. The quarterly dividend is payable on January 28, 2015 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on January 7, 2015.
Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) declared a quarterly dividend of $0.75 per share on the Company's Common Stock, payable in cash on December 15, 2014, to stockholders of record at the close of business on November 28, 2014.
Visa (NYSE:V) declared a quarterly dividend in the aggregate amount of $0.48 per share of class A common stock, determined in the case of class B and class C common stock on an as-converted basis, payable on December 2, 2014, to all holders of record of the Company's class A, class B and class C common stock as of November 14, 2014. The quarterly dividend increase raises the annual dividend rate from $1.60 per share to $1.92 per share.
Citigroup declared a quarterly dividend on Citigroup's common stock of $0.01 per share, payable on November 26, 2014 to stockholders of record on November 3, 2014.
T. Rowe Price Group (NASDAQ:TROW) has declared a quarterly dividend of $0.44 per share payable December 30, 2014 to stockholders of record as of the close of business on December 16, 2014.
And, McKesson (NYSE:MCK) declared a regular dividend of twenty-four cents per share on Common Stock. The dividend will be payable on January 2, 2015, to stockholders of record on December 1, 2014.
