Weekly Market Wrap: August 22, 2014 Friday, August 22, 4:44 PM ET The thirty fourth trading week of 2014 comes to a close with the S&P 500 and Dow lower and the NASDAQ slightly higher, in afternoon trading today.
Most actively traded stocks include Bank of America (BAC) about flat, Apple (AAPL) higher by 0.56%, and Salesforce.com (CRM) up 8.35%.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite are all higher for the week.
Crude oil futures are significantly lower this week, trading at $93.48 per barrel on Friday afternoon.
And Gold futures are also lower for the week, trading at $1280.95 an ounce.
In economic news, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased 0.1 percent in July on a seasonally adjusted basis, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 2.0 percent before seasonal adjustment.
The all items index posted its smallest seasonally adjusted increase since February; the indexes for shelter and food rose, but were partially offset by declines in the energy index and the index for airline fares. The food index rose 0.4 percent in July, with the food at home index also rising 0.4 percent after being unchanged in June. The decrease in the energy index was its first since March and featured declines in the indexes of all the major energy components. The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.1 percent in July, the same increase as in June. The all items index increased 2.0 percent over the last 12 months, a slight decline from the 2.1 percent figure for the 12 months ending June.
In the week ending August 16, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 298,000, a decrease of 14,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 311,000 to 312,000. The 4-week moving average was 300,750, an increase of 4,750 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 295,750 to 296,000.
Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) declared a quarterly dividend of $0.70 per share on Northrop Grumman common stock, payable Sept. 17, 2014, to shareholders of record as of the close of business Sept. 2, 2014.
Nordstrom (NYSE:JWN) approved a quarterly dividend of 33 cents per share payable on September 17, 2014 to shareholders of record at the close of business on September 2, 2014. The quarterly dividend is unchanged when compared to the previous quarter's dividend and represents an increase of 10 percent when compared to the dividend in September 2013.
Joy Global (NYSE:JOY) has declared a quarterly dividend in the amount of $0.20 per share to be paid on September 18, 2014 to shareholders of record on September 4, 2014.
CenturyLink (NYSE:CTL) voted to declare a regular quarterly cash dividend of $0.54 per share, a portion of which will be payable out of capital surplus, on September 12, 2014, to shareholders of record on August 29, 2014.
Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE:WHR) declared a quarterly dividend of 75 cents per share on the company's common stock. The dividend is payable September 15, 2014, to stockholders of record at the close of business on August 29, 2014.
And, Gap (NYSE:GPS) authorized a quarterly dividend of $0.22 per share payable on or after October 29, 2014 to shareholders of record at the close of business on October 8, 2014.
