PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP announced it will acquire Diamond Management & Technology Consultants (DTPI) for $378 million dollars in cash, or 12.50 per Diamond share. That's a premium of 31% to Diamond's stock price at yesterday's close, and shares jumped higher in Tuesday trading.
Acacia Research Corp. (ACTG) announced after the bell yesterday that it is partnering with Renesas Electronics on a strategic patent licensing alliance. Acacia partners with inventors and patent owners, then licenses their patents to corporate users, for a share of the revenue. Shares of Acacia rose about 9% on Tuesday.
Daktronics (DAKT) announced its quarterly results, with earnings of 6 cents per share, double what the company earned in the same quarter last year. Net sales came in at 100.5 million, down about 11% year over year. Shares of Daktronics advanced more than 15%.
Kindred Healthcare (KND) announced it will acquire five long-term acute care hospitals from Vista Healthcare, for $180 million in cash. Investors reacted favorably to the announcement, sending Kindred shares 3.5% higher in early trading on Tuesday.
According to ETFChannel.com, all four of today's featured big gainers are members of the iShares Russell 2000 Index Fund ETF (IWM), which was down about 1% on the day.
