Measuring ETF Flows Definition Thursday, November 20, 2:21 PM ET Unlike a Closed End Fund, an Exchange Traded Fund is constantly creating or destroying units based upon investor demand, thereby keeping prices very close to the underlying net asset value of the fund. Because of this dynamic, the flow of money into and out of ETFs can be measured by comparing the number of outstanding units between two periods of time.
We here at Market News Video regularly report on notable flows into and out of ETFs, by comparing units outstanding week-over-week, using the coverage universe of ETFs at ETF Channel. Often, a specific company or sector can lead an ETF in direction, so we take note of large underlying components. Keep following Market News Video for updates on notable ETF flows.
